Why use such a system?

An air-pruning propagation system is a low-cost, efficient method of obtaining the best results possible from your plants.  Our customers are reporting that the rigid system is more effective as the roots are guided into the shaped holes in order to prune them.  They are also re-usable unlike the fabric pots which hold salts and diseases and should be thrown away after use.  The airpots work by making the pruned root then grow another root from the root ball which increases your roots LIKE YOU WOULDN’T BELIEVE!!

We stock 20 litre pots as we have found anything smaller dries out to quickly.  We also have a FREE  special additive for the pot to ensure it is easily re-wet if it has dried out, otherwise the water tends to run of the soil and you don’t get the resukts you should..

You don’t have to do anything with these pots, the air pruning happens naturally when the roots are guided to the holes by the shape of the pot and then exposed to air. In the absence of high humidity and the protection of the soil/coco/pebbles the roots are effectively “burned” off, causing the plant to constantly produce new and healthy branching roots.  If roots are not exposed to air, they continue to grow around the container in a constricted pattern.  The roots may spiral, twist, kink or become strangled.  When the plant is later installed it will likely fail to establish a normal root structure, and instead will have reduced uptake of water and nutrients.  Eventually abnormal growth should be obvious and could cause the plant to fail.  Damaged root systems also cause leaves to turn yellow or brown, shrivel or drop.  Healthy, highly branched root structures allow a plant to more efficiently uptake water and nutrients while increasing growth and overall plant health.  A strong root system will make a plant better able to establish itself when installed in a restoration project.
